This immersive class guides students through building a traditional staked stool—an elegant, durable form rooted in vernacular furniture traditions. The process emphasizes layout, compound angles, and joinery driven by structure.
Students will complete a stool and gain transferable skills applicable to chairs and tables. Materials provided.
You’ll learn to:
Lay out compound angles accurately
Bore and ream tapered joints
Shape legs and seats
Assemble strong, expressive forms
Understand load paths in furniture
