Saturday 10/10/26, Class 2:30-5pm and Open House 5:30-7pm

Simple tools. Honest materials. Useful beauty.

Materials and tools provided, participants will leave with at least one broom!

In this 2.5 hour workshop, we will learn how to craft beautiful and useful hand brooms. Information covered includes how to size and select material, talk about growing and processing your own broomcorn, and the ins and outs of how to weave turkey wing hand brooms. Students will walk away with at least one handmade turkey wing broom. No experience necessary, although some manual dexterity and a beginner's mind are helpful!

In the evening, the shop opens for a casual open house, free to the public. Students’ brooms will be on display, followed by a brief talk and conversation about broom making, regional craft traditions, and the role of handmade domestic tools in contemporary life.

You’ll learn to:

Understand materials used in traditional broom making

Bind and assemble a functional handbroom
